Dave Krueger MD, MS, FACEP
Commercial, Multi-engine, Instrument rated pilot
Dave has artfully blended his love of medicine and aviation in his work with Medical Team Resource Management. Many principles and techniques learned in aviation safety can be applied to the medical field yielding significant improvement in the delivery of healthcare. His understanding of both fields allows Dave to bring critical expertise to the promotion of a culture of safety in medicine.
Dave received his Master of Science degree from the University of Chicago in 1994 and then received his Medical Degree from the University of Chicago-Pritzker School of Medicine in 1997. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, serving as Chief Resident in his final year of training. After completion of residency in 2001, he joined the faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Michigan and obtained his Board Certification in Emergency Medicine that same year. In 2003, Dave moved back to his hometown of Appleton, Wisconsin where he became a partner in Fox Valley Emergency Medicine (FVEM) at Theda Clark's Level II Trauma Center. In 2004, he was named to Fellow status in the American College of Emergency Physicians. During his 5 years with FVEM he served as vice-president and then Chair-elect of the Emergency Department. In 2008, Dave transitioned into the role of Medical Director of Quality for the Northeast Wisconsin Health Value Network (NEWHVN).
Dave also joined the team at Innovative Learning Strategies in 2008 to help develop the program in Medical Team Resource Management.
In addition to medicine, Dave pursued a "side-career" in aviation. He obtained his Private Pilot License in 2003 followed by his Instrument rating in 2004. In 2007, he obtained his Commercial License along with Multi-engine and Multi-engine Instrument ratings. He has been active in the FAA Safety Program and currently flies a Cessna 421C twin-engine airplane.
In his spare time, Dave trains for and competes in triathlons. He completed Ironman Wisconsin in 2006 and 2008. He enjoys spending time with his wife Edie, and their two boys, ages 4 and 6.
